Most asked

About Mugtea

What it is, who it is for, and what to expect.

What is Mugtea?

A whipped facial cleanser that starts as a dense paste and ends as a fine foam.

It comes in a 100 g squeeze tube. A little water turns the paste into a cushioning cream, and a minute of massage turns that into foam that rinses clean. Use it as your daily wash in about 60 seconds, or leave it on for 2 minutes as a pack. It is fragrance-free.

Who is Mugtea for?

Anyone with normal, combination or oily skin who wants a gentle daily wash. It works for men and women.

That includes skin that gets congested. It is a cleanser, not a treatment for acne or any other skin condition. If your skin is dry or easily irritated, read the notes under Your skin first.

Why a paste instead of a gel or liquid?

A paste carries more cleansing base in every gram.

That is why a dime-sized amount covers your whole face and one tube lasts around 100 washes. The changing texture is also the part people look forward to, which helps when the aim is to wash properly twice a day.

Will it foam? Is more foam better?

It turns into a fine, creamy foam, not a big bubbly lather, and that is by design.

Mugtea starts as a paste and foams with a little water and a minute of massage. The amount of foam does not show how well a cleanser works, and very high foam can come from harsher ingredients. Add water gradually and massage.

How is it different from a normal face wash?

Three things you can feel: the texture, the rinse, and the pack.

The texture changes in your hands from paste to cream to foam. The rinse is meant to leave skin clean and comfortable, not squeaky and tight. And the same tube works as a 2-minute pack because it contains microfine kaolin clay.

We also publish the full ingredient list and explain it, so you can check what goes on your face.

Is it worth the price?

It works out to about Rs 21 a wash.

One 100 g tube holds around 100 washes at a dime-sized amount each. A single cup of dhaba chai costs about Rs 80. Used morning and evening, a tube lasts about seven weeks.

Ek tube taqreeban 100 wash chalti hai, yani har wash ka kharcha lagbhag Rs 22.

How soon will I see results?

You will feel the difference in how your skin feels after the first wash. We do not put a date on anything beyond that.

A cleanser’s job is to leave skin clean and comfortable. How smooth or fresh your skin looks over time builds with steady use and varies from person to person. Give it a few weeks of consistent use before judging, and be wary of any cleanser that promises overnight results.

Is Mugtea clinically proven or dermatologist-tested?

We do not claim results we have not measured.

Today we describe what Mugtea is designed to do: cleanse effectively, feel comfortable and be easy to repeat. When we have test data, we will publish what it shows in the Journal, including anything that falls short.

How do I know my Mugtea is genuine?

Buy it from velnaura.com. Right now that is the only place we sell it.

If you see Mugtea somewhere else, message us before you buy. We cannot check the contents or condition of tubes bought from other sellers.

Using Mugtea

The daily wash, the pack, and where it fits.

How do I use it every day?

A dime-sized amount, about a minute of massage, then rinse.

  1. Squeeze a dime-sized amount onto damp fingertips.
  2. Work it into a cream, then add a little more water.
  3. Massage over your face for about a minute until it turns to foam.
  4. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

More product does not clean better.

How do I use it as a pack?

A thin layer on dry skin for 2 minutes, then foam and rinse.

  1. On dry skin, spread a thin, even layer over your face.
  2. Leave it for 2 minutes.
  3. Add water, massage into foam and rinse.

The pack works because Mugtea contains microfine kaolin clay. As a daily wash there is no need to leave it on, since a minute of massage is enough. Do not leave the pack on longer than 2 minutes, do not let it dry fully and do not sleep in it. Start with one or two evenings a week, and if skin feels tight, go back to the daily wash only.

How often should I wash my face, and can I use it morning and evening?

Twice a day, morning and evening, is plenty, and Mugtea is designed for it.

Dry or sensitive skin can start with the evening only and add the morning once it feels comfortable. Washing three or more times a day will not clear skin faster and can leave it tight and irritated. If you sweat a lot, rinse with plain water in between. Used twice a day, one tube lasts about seven weeks.

Din mein 2 baar kaafi hai, subah aur raat. Zyada dhone se skin dry ho sakti hai.

Where does it fit in my routine?

First. Cleanse, then follow with what you already use.

Toner, serum, moisturiser and, in the morning, sunscreen all come after. If you also use strong exfoliating acids or retinoids, begin with Mugtea once a day and see how your skin responds before adding the second wash.

Does it remove makeup and sunscreen? Do I need to double cleanse?

Yes for everyday sunscreen and light makeup, in one wash. Double cleansing is only needed for waterproof formulas.

Foaming cleansers are weaker on water-resistant sunscreen, waterproof mascara and long-wear makeup. For those, take them off first with a cleansing oil or balm on dry skin, then wash with Mugtea.

Is it safe around my eyes?

Keep it away from your eyes.

Mugtea is made for the face, not for removing eye makeup. If it gets in your eyes, rinse with plenty of clean water.

How does it work in Pakistan’s summer heat and winter dryness?

Summer suits it well. In winter, adjust how you use it.

In heat and humidity skin makes more oil and sweat, and a morning and evening wash lifts it without a heavy residue. In cold, dry weather, wash once in the evening, use lukewarm water, skip the pack and moisturise straight after. Keep the tube out of direct sun and never leave it in a parked car.

How should I store it, and how long does it keep?

Store in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight, with the cap closed.

Before opening: 30 months (2.5 years) from the date of manufacture, when stored as directed.

After opening: use within 12 months, or before the printed expiry date, whichever comes first.

In summer, do not leave the tube in a parked car or on a sunny window ledge. If the texture ever looks or smells different from what we describe, message us with the batch code printed on the tube.

Your skin

Suitability, sensitivity and what to avoid.

Will it suit my skin?

It is designed for normal, combination and oily skin. Test it first, because tolerance varies.

Dermatologists suggest testing any new product before using it on your face. Apply a normal amount to a coin-sized spot on your inner arm or the bend of your elbow, leave it for as long as you would normally (up to 5 minutes), then rinse. Repeat twice a day for 7 to 10 days. If you see no redness, itching or swelling, go ahead.

Method: American Academy of Dermatology, “How to test skin care products”.

Will it strip my skin or leave it feeling tight?

It is designed not to, and that feeling is what we design against.

The cleansing blend is mild, the formula includes glycerin, panthenol and allantoin, and it is made to sit near your skin’s natural, slightly acidic pH. We cannot promise the same result on every skin.

If your skin is on the dry side, use it once a day in the evening, skip the pack for now and moisturise afterwards. If it still feels tight, Mugtea may be more cleansing than your skin needs.

Tightness usually means the wash or the water was too harsh, not that skin is cleaner. Use lukewarm water, do not scrub, keep the wash to about a minute and moisturise straight after.

Can I use it if my skin is oily or acne-prone?

Yes, as a gentle daily wash. It is not an acne treatment.

Mugtea is made for normal, combination and oily skin. It lifts surface oil, sunscreen and daily buildup, and microfine kaolin helps take up extra shine. Tea tree leaf extract, mugwort and centella support calm, comfortable-looking skin, but Mugtea does not treat acne. Over-washing and scrubbing make breakouts look worse, so keep to twice a day. See a dermatologist for persistent, painful or scarring breakouts.

Oily ya acne-prone skin ke liye roz ka gentle cleanser hai, acne ka ilaaj nahi. Din mein 2 baar se zyada na dhoyein.

Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Please ask your doctor before you use it.

Mugtea has not been tested on pregnant or breastfeeding people, and it contains salicylic acid. Show your doctor the full ingredient list and use their advice. We also recommend a patch test on your inner arm first, as described under “Will it suit my skin?”.

It contains salicylic acid. What does it do, and who should avoid it?

It is there to support gentle exfoliation of the skin’s surface, at a low level, in a rinse-off wash.

Contact time is short, so expect a light effect on how smooth skin feels, not a treatment.

Please do not use Mugtea if you are allergic to salicylic acid or aspirin. If you use prescription acne medication, ask your doctor first.

I have sensitive skin. Is it safe?

It removes two common triggers, fragrance and essential oils. Sensitive skin still needs a careful start.

Patch test first (see “Will it suit my skin?”), start with the evening wash only, and skip the pack until your skin settles.

Will it fade dark spots or post-acne marks?

No cleanser can, and Mugtea does not claim to.

It cleans and gently smooths the surface, which can help skin look more even over time, but marks fade slowly and mainly with sun protection and time. Wear SPF daily, do not pick spots, and see a dermatologist for stubborn marks or pigmentation such as melasma. It does not change pore size either.

What if my skin is combination or dry?

Combination skin is a good fit. Dry skin should go carefully.

On combination skin Mugtea cleans the oilier T-zone without leaving cheeks tight, and the pack can go on the T-zone only. Very dry skin may find it more cleansing than it needs: start with a dime-sized amount in the evening, skip the pack and moisturise straight after. If it still feels tight after a week, a creamier cleanser will suit you better.

Does it help with clogged pores and blackheads?

It helps keep pores looking clearer. It does not remove existing blackheads.

Washing away oil, sunscreen and pollution before they build up keeps pores looking clearer, and kaolin clay in the pack takes up surface oil. Mugtea does not change pore size. Use the pack once or twice a week, and do not squeeze or scrub.

Pores saaf dikhane mein madad, lekin blackheads khatam karne ka daava nahi.

Can it make dull skin look fresher?

A cleanser cannot change your natural skin tone, but it can remove what makes skin look flat.

The film of oil, dust and dead surface cells dulls how skin looks, and a mild exfoliating acid in Mugtea gently loosens that layer, so skin can look fresher and more even-looking after a wash. Lasting change comes from daily sunscreen and consistency, so wear SPF every morning.

Can I over-wash, and how would I know?

Yes. Any cleanser can irritate skin if it is used too often, too hard or on skin that is already sore.

Tight, stinging, flaky or dull-looking skin usually means too much. Wash twice a day at most, avoid hot water, and do not use Mugtea on the same night as strong acids or retinoids. If skin feels tight right after Mugtea, skip the pack for a week and drop to one evening wash.

Can teenagers use Mugtea?

We have not tested Mugtea on teenagers specifically, so we suggest asking a parent or doctor first.

It is a gentle daily wash. Patch test on the inner arm and start with one wash a day. Teen breakouts usually settle with a simple routine: a gentle cleanser, a light moisturiser and sunscreen.

What if my skin reacts?

Stop using it, rinse with water, and message us.

A person will look at your case with care. If the reaction is serious or does not settle, speak to a doctor or pharmacist.

Ingredients

What is in the tube, and what is not.

What is inside Mugtea?

A mild cleansing blend, comfort ingredients, a low level of salicylic acid, kaolin and four plant extracts.

The cleansing base is built on sodium cocoyl isethionate (SCI) with sodium methyl cocoyl taurate, sodium cocoyl glutamate and coco-betaine. Around it sit glycerin, niacinamide, panthenol, allantoin and sodium hyaluronate, microfine kaolin, and extracts of mugwort, centella (with madecassoside), tea tree leaf and cucumber.

The approved ingredient declaration is on the Mugtea page under “Read the full list”. Check the tube or carton for the ingredient list supplied with your product.

Is it fragrance-free?

Yes. No added fragrance and no essential oils.

The tea tree is a leaf extract, not the oil. The plant extracts may give the paste a faint, plain scent of their own.

Does it contain sulphates like SLS?

No. There is no sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate.

The main cleanser, SCI, is a mild surfactant made from coconut fatty acids.

What do the botanicals actually do?

They give Mugtea its calming, conditioning character. The cleansing blend does the cleaning.

Mugwort, centella, tea tree leaf and cucumber are used at low levels in a product that rinses off within a minute, so we treat them as supporting ingredients.

Is it pH-balanced?

It is formulated to sit in the slightly acidic range of healthy skin, not the alkaline range of traditional soap.

That is one reason it can cleanse without the tight, stripped feeling that high-pH washes cause.

Is a clay cleanser good for oily skin?

Clay helps take up surface oil, which is why people with oily skin like it.

Mugtea uses microfine kaolin, one of the mildest cosmetic clays, at a low level so the daily wash stays comfortable. Strong clay washes used every day can feel drying, so keep the pack to once or twice a week and moisturise afterwards.

What does tea tree do in a cleanser?

It is there to help skin feel clean and fresh. It is not a cure for pimples.

Mugtea uses tea tree leaf extract, not the concentrated oil, which is a common irritant. Tea tree leaf is traditionally used in skincare. At the low level in a rinse-off wash, expect a comfortable cleanse rather than a treatment.

What does mugwort do in a cleanser?

It helps skin feel calm and comfortable after cleansing.

Mugwort is a traditional botanical in Korean skincare. It is a supporting ingredient, not a treatment, and the amount in a rinse-off wash is small. If you are allergic to plants in the daisy family, patch test carefully or skip it.

Is Mugtea natural or chemical-free?

“Chemical-free” is not a meaningful term, so we do not use it.

Everything, including water, is a chemical. Mugtea combines plant extracts (tea tree leaf, mugwort, cucumber, centella) with carefully chosen modern ingredients for gentle cleansing and stability. Natural does not automatically mean safer, as many plants irritate skin, which is why we publish the full ingredient list.

Why does it contain a preservative?

Any product made with water needs one.

Without it, bacteria and mould could grow in the tube. Mugtea uses phenoxyethanol with ethylhexylglycerin.

Is it vegan, cruelty-free or halal?

Yes. Mugtea is vegan, cruelty-free and halal.

Nothing in the formula comes from animals, and neither Mugtea nor its ingredients are tested on animals.
